> ## Agent Instructions
> Ready for Commerce is an ecosystem that currently contains two products, PIM and Repricer, standing on one shared foundation: one identity, one organization, one team, one bill. Do not call it a platform with features, and never hint at an unreleased product.
> PIM connects to Shopify, Amazon, Square, Google Merchant Center and BigCommerce. Repricer connects to Amazon, Walmart, Shopify, BigCommerce, eBay and Square. The two products do not share one list, and each integration is authorized separately inside each product. The roster grows on purpose, so describe what the product does and let a table carry which integrations do it today, instead of counting them or writing that only one does something.
> Integration is the word this product uses, and it is the default in the documentation: the connection, the account, the Integrations screen, the per-account settings and the sync state are all integrations. Channel is reserved for the narrow sense of a destination where a listing lives, as in a product being live on a channel or archived on the channel.
> Newegg is not a supported channel. Do not describe it.
> On Amazon, PIM manages the offer only: price, availability and condition. It does not publish listing content such as titles, descriptions, images or specifications.
> Sign-in is passwordless: a single-use code emailed to the user, or Google. There are no passwords anywhere, so never describe a password, a sign-up with a password, or an email confirmation link.
> There is no public API for customers and no customer-facing webhooks. There is no organization-wide activity feed and no audit export, but the PIM does keep version history on products, brands, categories, tags and specifications, with who changed what and a restore, so never write that changes are not recorded or that an edit cannot be undone. Do not describe capabilities that are not documented here.
> Never write that the products have no AI, and never write that anything is AI-powered. Both are wrong. The PIM's image Optimizer runs AI-backed transforms the seller starts on purpose: Upscale, Remove background, and the region selection behind Refine. The Repricer reads competitor prices off web pages on the server. No control, badge or tooltip in either product names AI, and the seller never writes a prompt, so describe what the buttons do in the app's own words instead of reaching for the word.
> A PIM product, brand, category or variant can be switched off per connected integration account. Hover the channel badge and the switch is beside the account name in the card that opens. It carries no visible caption, so never call it the Sync switch: Sync is only its accessible name. On a variant-grained provider, Amazon today, the switch moves into the variant editor. On a product it asks whether to delete it from the channel, archive it there, or leave it live. Disabling stops publishing, not reading. There is still no per-field sync toggle.
> The PIM's image Optimizer replaced a feature called Squarify, which no longer exists. It resizes to an aspect ratio or to exact dimensions, removes backgrounds, upscales, trims the transparent margin around a cutout and re-centers it, pads, fills and re-encodes, and it always publishes a new asset instead of changing the original. Nothing crops into the picture: the subject is always contained whole.
> The PIM has no repricing engine and never reacts to a competitor's price. It does build the price it publishes to each integration account from the seller's own fields, configured in that account's settings, so do not write that the PIM has no pricing rules.
> Neither product has an in-app notification center, bell or inbox. Notifications are delivered by email only.
> Billing is per organization and per product, and only the organization owner can see or change it. Team members are free and uncounted, so never describe seats or per-user pricing.
> The seller never picks a plan. Each product has twelve price tiers assigned automatically from usage: the PIM from catalog product count, which includes drafts and archived products, and the Repricer from trailing 30-day sales. Nothing is feature-gated by plan and exceeding a tier never blocks work, so never write that a feature requires a higher plan.
> A subscription that is past due or paused makes the product read-only, which stops repricing and blocks edits without deleting data. Only a canceled subscription locks the seller out. Nothing is ever charged without a payment method on file.
> Pages containing the text 'This page has not been written yet', or its Spanish equivalent 'Esta página todavía no está escrita', are placeholders. Do not treat their headings as documented behavior.

# Profile and preferences

> Your profile is the small set of settings that are yours as a person rather than your business, from your name and language to which emails you get.

Your profile is the small set of settings that are yours as a person. Your name, the email address you sign in with, the language the apps speak to you in, your timezone, light or dark, and which emails you get. None of it is about your business, so it stays the same in every organization you are a member of.

Most people come here for one of three reasons. The name on their account is wrong, they want everything in Spanish, or an email they do not want will not stop arriving.

You will find all of it at [account.readyforcommerce.com](https://account.readyforcommerce.com), on a screen called `My Account`. A sidebar down the left splits it into two groups. The `Account` group is yours, and it lists `Profile`, `Security`, `Notifications` and `Appearance`. The `Organization` group under it is about your business, and [organizations](/organizations) covers those.

This page covers three of the four: `Profile`, `Appearance` and `Notifications`. The fourth is `Security`, and [signing in and security](/signing-in) covers it.

## Before you start

### What your role lets you do

Nothing here depends on your role. These settings are yours as a person, so an Editor and an Owner open the same pages and can change the same things. A role decides what you can do inside an organization, and [team, roles and permissions](/team#what-each-organization-role-can-do) covers that.

### Your email address is your way back in

<Warning>
  Do not move your account to an inbox you cannot read. Sign-in codes go to whatever address your account has, and there is no password to fall back on. A lost address is a lost account.
</Warning>

Everything else here is safe to experiment with. Your email address is the one setting that can lock you out, which is why changing it takes several steps instead of one.

## How to change a setting

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open My Account" icon="grid-2x2">
    In the PIM or the Repricer, click your avatar in the top right corner. The first row of the menu shows your name and your email address, and clicking that row opens `My Account`. You can also go right to [account.readyforcommerce.com](https://account.readyforcommerce.com).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick the page you need" icon="list">
    In the sidebar on the left, under `Account`, click `Profile` for your name, your email address, your language and your timezone. Click `Appearance` for light or dark, and `Notifications` for your emails.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Change what you came for" icon="pencil">
    Type into the field, pick from the dropdown, or click the switch.
  </Step>
</Steps>

That is the whole flow. There is no Save button anywhere in `My Account`, because every setting saves itself. A text field saves a moment after you stop typing, and again when you click away. A dropdown or a switch saves the moment you use it. While a text field is saving you get three small dots at its right edge, then `Saved` in green when it is stored, or `Error` in red when it is not.

Everything below explains those three pages one at a time. You do not need any of it to fix your name or to switch to Spanish.

## Every option in detail

The sections below follow the three pages in the order they appear in the sidebar.

### Set your name

`First Name` and `Last Name` are the top two fields on `Profile`. Both are required, and neither will take more than 100 characters.

They accept letters from any alphabet, so `José`, `O'Brien` and `de la Cruz` all go in as you typed them. Between two parts of a name you can use one space, one hyphen or one apostrophe. Numbers and symbols are rejected, and so is a space or a hyphen at the start of the field, at the end, or doubled up in the middle.

**Your name is not private.** Your teammates see it next to you on the `Team` page, and the person you invite sees it in the invitation. The emails Ready for Commerce sends you open with your first name too. So it is worth correcting early.

The avatar beside your name is your initials, taken from the name itself. Correct the name and the avatar corrects with it. There is no picture to upload.

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Where your name came from if you never typed one">
    You were given one when the account was created, which is why so many people find something odd in these two fields.

    If you signed up with an emailed code, your first name is the letters of your email address before the `@`, capitalized. So `ana.p92@example.com` becomes `Anap`. Your last name is set to `Member`.

    If you signed up with Google, Google gives us the full name on your Google account. The first word becomes your first name and the rest becomes your last name. When Google only gives one word, your last name is `Member` again.
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

### Change your email address

`Email` is the third field on `Profile`. Changing it is the one thing on this page that takes more than typing, because the address is both your identity here and your way back in. Ready for Commerce checks that you can read the old inbox and the new one before it moves anything.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Type the new address" icon="pencil">
    Click the `Email` field on `Profile`, type the new address, and press Enter or click away. If another Ready for Commerce account already has that address, you get told while you are still typing and nothing is sent. Press Escape to put your old address back.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Prove it is you" icon="shield">
    A dialog called `Verify your identity` opens over the page, and a code of 8 digits goes to your current address. Type it into the boxes and click `Verify`. The `Verify` button stays gray until all 8 boxes are full, and a `Resend code` link is just above it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open both confirmation emails" icon="inbox">
    A confirmation link then goes to the new address, and a second one goes to the address you have now. The change only happens once you have opened both.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Until you open both, the `Email` field still shows your old address, and that is correct: nothing has changed yet. Open one link and you get a message telling you to go and find the other. Open the second and you get one telling you the address is changed.

**After that the new address is the one you sign in with**, and it is the address every email goes to. The PIM and the Repricer pick it up on their own, so there is nothing to update in either of them.

### Choose your language and timezone

`Language` and `Timezone` are the two dropdowns under `Email` on `Profile`.

`Language` gives you `English` and `Español`. Your choice is saved on your account rather than in the browser, so it comes with you to the PIM and the Repricer and it is kept when you sign out. It also decides which language the emails you get are written in.

`Timezone` decides how every date and time is written for you: in `My Account`, in the PIM, in the Repricer, and inside those emails. Click the dropdown and type to narrow the list. Getting it wrong breaks nothing, it only means every timestamp you read is a few hours out.

You may find a zone already selected without ever having chosen one. The first time you sign in, your browser reports where you are and that zone is saved for you, and picking one here replaces it.

`Member Since` is under both dropdowns and cannot be edited. It is the day your account was created, written in your language and your timezone.

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="How the timezone list is written">
    Every zone in the list reads as its offset from GMT, then its region and city, so New York appears as `(GMT-5:00) America / New York`.

    The list runs west to east by offset instead of alphabetically, so the zones near yours are near each other. Typing part of a city name is faster than scrolling.
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

### Pick light or dark

`Appearance` in the sidebar has one setting, `Color Mode`, with three cards under it: `Light`, `Dark` and `System`. Click a card and it applies right away. `System` follows whatever your computer is set to, so it turns dark when your computer does.

**Pick `System` if your computer already switches itself** between light and dark during the day, because then you never have to come back here. Pick `Light` or `Dark` if you want the same one all day whatever your computer is doing.

<Note>
  This one is saved in your browser and not on your account, so it does not follow you. Another computer, another browser, or a private window starts on `System` until you set it there too.
</Note>

The PIM and the Repricer each keep their own `Appearance` setting, in their own settings dialog. Turning `My Account` dark leaves both of them exactly as they were.

### Choose which emails you get

`Notifications` in the sidebar lists every email Ready for Commerce sends you about your account, your team and your billing. The rows are in three sections with a heading each, `Billing & Subscription`, `Team` and `Security`, and every row has a switch on its right.

All the switches start on, and clicking one saves it immediately. They are set on your account and not on your organization, so one set of them covers every organization you are a member of.

| Group | Notification | What it covers | Can you turn it off |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `Billing & Subscription` | `Trial ending` | Reminder before your free trial expires | No |
| `Billing & Subscription` | `Payment failed` | When a payment attempt fails | No |
| `Billing & Subscription` | `Payment receipts` | Confirmation when a payment is processed | Yes |
| `Billing & Subscription` | `Plan changes` | Confirmation when a subscription plan is upgraded or downgraded | Yes |
| `Billing & Subscription` | `Subscription updates` | Other billing updates: renewals, cancellations, payment methods | Yes |
| `Team` | `Team invitations` | When you are invited to join an organization | No |
| `Team` | `Member joined` | When a new member accepts an invitation and comes into your organization | Yes |
| `Team` | `Member removed` | When you are removed from an organization | No |
| `Team` | `Role changes` | When your role in an organization is changed | Yes |
| `Security` | `New login alert` | When your account is accessed from a new device or location | No |

The five you cannot turn off are still shown switched on, with the switch dimmed. Hover it and a tooltip tells you the notification is essential to your account.

**Turn off `Payment receipts` and `Subscription updates`** if the billing mail is noise to you, since [plans and billing](/billing) shows you the same information whenever you open it. **Leave `Member joined` and `Role changes` on** if you invite people, because nothing else tells you an invitation was accepted.

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Turning an email off from the email itself">
    Every email you can switch off has a `Manage email preferences` link in its footer. That link opens this same `Notifications` page, and it changes nothing on its own.

    Some mail apps, Gmail among them, put their own `Unsubscribe` button on those emails. Using it turns that one switch off for you and opens a short page confirming it, always written in English. Come back here to turn the switch on again.

    The five you cannot turn off have neither the footer link nor the button.
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

### Emails from the PIM and the Repricer

This page covers the email about your account, your team and your billing. Each product also writes to you about its own work, like an import finishing, an export being ready, or an integration that needs reconnecting. Each product has those switches in its own settings.

To get to them in the PIM, click your avatar in the top right corner, click `Settings` in the menu, and open `Notifications`. The Repricer works the same way.

<Info>
  Email is the only way either product tells you anything. Neither one has a notification center, a bell or a list of past alerts, and there is no text message or push option.
</Info>

### Limits

| What | Limit |
| --- | --- |
| Characters in `First Name` | 100 |
| Characters in `Last Name` | 100 |
| Languages | `English` and `Español` |
| Digits in the code that confirms an email change | 8 |
| Confirmation emails you have to open | 2 |
| Emails you cannot turn off | 5 |

### What you cannot change here

| You cannot | Do this instead |
| --- | --- |
| Upload a profile picture | Fix your name, since the avatar is your initials |
| Set a username, a display name, a phone number, a job title or a company | Your name, email address, language and timezone are the whole profile |
| Change a password | There is no password, and [signing in and security](/signing-in) explains how you get in |
| Get a text message or a push notification instead of an email | Turn that email off if you do not want to hear about it |
| Have dark mode follow you between apps | Set it again in the PIM and in the Repricer |
| Rename your organization | Open `General` under `Organization` in the same sidebar, covered in [organizations](/organizations) |
| Change someone else's name, language or emails | Ask them to change it. Every person owns their own profile |

## When something goes wrong

### When a change does not save

`Error` appears in red at the right edge of the field and nothing was saved. Make the same change again, and reload the page if it fails again.

A switch on `Notifications` that cannot be saved slides back to where it was, and a message reads `Failed to update preference`.

### Messages on your name

| Message | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| `This field can't be empty.` | Type something. Neither name can be left blank |
| `Use 100 characters or fewer.` | Shorten it |
| `Use letters only. Spaces, hyphens and apostrophes are allowed between names.` | Take out the digit or the symbol, or the space or hyphen at one end |

### Messages while you change your email address

| Message | What to do |
| --- | --- |
| `Enter a valid email address.` | The address is incomplete. Finish it |
| `This email is already in use by another account.` | Another Ready for Commerce account has that address. Nothing was sent |
| `New email must be different from your current email.` | You typed the address you already have |
| `This email address is not allowed. Please use a different email.` | That address or its domain is rejected. Use another one |
| `Please wait a moment before trying again.` | Too many tries in a short time. Wait, then try again |
| `Too many requests. Please try again later.` | The same, against a longer limit |
| `Failed to send verification code` | The code did not go out. Click `Resend code` |
| `Invalid verification code. Please try again.` | The 8 digits do not match the ones you were sent. Type them again |
| `Verification code has expired. Please request a new one.` | The code is too old. Click `Resend code` |
| `Failed to change email. Please try again.` | Close the dialog and start the change again |
| `An unexpected error occurred. Please try again.` | Reload the page and check which address your account has before trying again |
